The Monster Hunter games by Capcom can feel overwhelming because of their detailed stories and massive monsters.
But don’t worry! The upcoming game, Monster Hunter Wilds, has a new preview that makes it easy for both new players and long-time fans to jump in. Alma, the in-game handler, acts as your guide through what feels like a Monster Hunter 101 class.
In this game, you play as a Hunter on a mission to the Forbidden Lands. Your team includes Alma, a blacksmith named Gemma, and a Palico, which is a helpful cat-like creature also seen in Monster Hunter: World. Many teams are on this journey to help a young boy named Nata find his people and defeat the monster Arkveld, the White Wraith, who split them apart.
The monsters in the game will change how they act when they notice your team, so players need to change their strategies. The different areas in the Forbidden Lands also affect how you fight. Plus, you’ll need to find food with your Palico to survive.
Oh, and there’s a cool creature called a Seikret, which is like a bird with two legs that you can ride. It can help you escape when you’re in trouble during battles. You can also call for help if things get too hard. Some monsters are just too strong to face alone.

Monster Hunter Wilds will come out on February 28, 2025, and you can play it on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
