The internet can’t get enough of Moo Deng, the cute pygmy hippo baby from Thailand’s Khao Kheow Open Zoo.
Now, this adorable little creature has made its way into the virtual world of Final Fantasy 14, where players are going wild over the hippo calf minion. GamesRadar shared that X user Cerulean posted a
showing how the minion’s price skyrocketed from 17,400 gil at the start of September to almost 300,000 gil by the end.
Even Square Enix couldn’t resist joining the craze, sharing a gif that echoes the zoo’s popular videos of Moo Deng.
The hippo calf minion, introduced with the Endwalker expansion in 2021, is found at the end of the level 85 Vanaspati dungeon. However, it’s super rare, making it really pricey on the market board. Before Moo Deng became famous, you could snag one for about 40,000 gil, depending on which server you were on.
Fans sometimes get really excited about stuff like this!
It’s unusual for an older minion to become this popular, but everyone expects the Vanaspati dungeon to be super busy in the coming weeks. Of course, once the Moo Deng mania cools down, a new trend will surely take over.
