Mortal Kombat 1 Expands Roster with Reptile, Havik, & Ashrah Characters

-

As the September release date approaches, another trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 has been launched, showcasing some familiar characters in action. Premiering at EVO 2023, NetherRealm’s latest preview of the game confirms that Reptile, Havik, and Ashrah will be playable characters in Mortal Kombat 1.

Quick Facts

  • Reptile, Havik, and Ashrah are confirmed as playable characters in Mortal Kombat 1.
  • Reptile, or Syzoth, has undergone a significant transformation and now allies with Liu Kang and other Earthrealm warriors.
  • Other characters in the trailer include Havik, Sareena, Ashrah, and Stryker, while Sektor, Cyrax, Geras, Omni-Man, Peacemaker, Homelander, and Ermac have also been confirmed in the game.

Among the latest roster additions, all characters have been reimagined with new roles in the New Era timeline, with Reptile undergoing a significant transformation. Typically an animalistic minion serving greater forces, Reptile, also known as Syzoth, is now an outcast who has joined forces with Liu Kang and other Earthrealm warriors to fight against an unknown threat.

This incarnation of Reptile is still an experienced fighter but is less savage than previous versions. He can shapeshift between forms to deliver powerful attacks. Another new character is Havik, the notorious Chaosrealm cleric who first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Deception and is known to literally disarm himself to gain an advantage in battle. Kameo fighter Sareena is also featured in this trailer, having made her debut in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero.

Ashrah, another demonic fighter with origins in Mortal Kombat: Deception, wields various weapons infused with angelic power. Additionally, Stryker appears as a Kameo fighter, bringing an arsenal of guns and explosives to help level the playing field. These characters are just a few of those revealed so far, with Sektor, Cyrax, and Geras recently confirmed, while DLC characters include Omni-Man, Peacemaker, Homelander, and Ermac.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to launch on September 19 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch.
