NetherRealm Studios just aired their new Kombat Kast, showcasing spooky surprises for Mortal Kombat 1, even though Halloween is over.
During the event, they unveiled Ghostface from Scream, but with a twist: it’s a trio, with two members hailing from the Mortal Kombat world. The show kicked off with a gameplay trailer flaunting some cool moves, combos, a Fatality that breaks the fourth wall, and a peek at Ghostface’s Animality as a buzzard. The main Ghostface, transported into the Mortal Kombat timeline, is the primary fighter, yet he can summon his fellow Ghostfaces to aid him in combat.
Stephanie Brownback from NetherRealm explained that these extra Ghostfaces aren’t just mystery folks; they’re familiar faces from Mortal Kombat lore. Both are part of Kano’s Black Dragon gang, with the male dubbed “Black Dragon Enforcer” and the female known as “Black Dragon Assassin.” Players will find hidden hints and Easter eggs on-screen, leaving them to figure out their true identities.
New features and character tweaks were also shared, like fresh moves for Ashrah, Smoke, and Sub-Zero. There’s a new replay takeover feature too, letting players jump into a recent online match to strategize for upcoming battles.
It’s interesting how much we enjoy discovering hidden secrets in our favorite games!
Mortal Kombat 1 is ready for play on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Ghostface will officially join the fight on November 26, with early access available from November 19 for Premium or Kollector’s Edition holders.
