Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell is a basketball star, but his skills on the court don’t seem to translate to the digital battlegrounds of Call of Duty.
Playing Call of Duty has left Donovan’s voice all raspy, as he explained, “I’ve been playing Call of Duty with these kids, screaming at them and stuff, that’s where the voice goes,” said Mitchell. Despite watching gameplay videos on his phone and trying hard, he still finds himself lacking in the game. “It’s been rough… I genuinely try to get better, which makes me even more upset. I watch film on my phone, on TikTok. I’m still terrible. As you can tell, I put a lot of effort into Call of Duty.”
Donovan Mitchell on why his voice was a bit raspy during interviews today:
“I've been playing Call of Duty with these kids and screaming at them and stuff. So that's where the voice goes… I genuinely try to get better, which makes me even more upset. I watch film on my phone…

It seems like Donovan is frustrated because he’s been matched with players way better than him. He thinks it might be because he’s famous for playing basketball. So, he jokingly asked to be put in easier matches. “I reached out to Call of Duty,” Donovan said. “Like, ‘Hey, put me in the trash lobbies, that’s where I belong.’ We’ll see what happens.”
Sometimes, fans feel like they’re stuck in tough situations, just like Donovan with Call of Duty.
Recently, Call of Duty released a new stoner-lizard DLC for Black Ops 6 and Warzone that sounds pretty wild. The developers admitted their anti-cheat system needs work and promised improvements. There’s also a fresh update for Black Ops 6 aimed at fixing some bugs. And guess what? Treyarch hinted at a fun crossover between Black Ops 6 and Netflix’s Squid Game.
