The PS5 Pro might be the latest craze, but the original PS5 is still a hot ticket this holiday season.
During a recent Hornets game in Charlotte, something unexpected happened. A young fan was called onto the court, seemingly about to receive a PS5 as a holiday surprise. But, as soon as the cameras stopped rolling, the team took the console back, leaving the boy with just a jersey instead. This strange event was caught on video by Adam Turner, who posted the clip on social media.
You guys want to see a cheap sports organization?
In this video my best friend&his nephew get called onto court for a special segment where they gift the kid a PS5 publicly… w/cameras off they TOOK IT AWAY and gave him a jersey.
Take a bow @hornets… crushed the kid— USMNT_STAN (@StanUsmnt)
Fans often feel surprised by how unpredictable life can be.
The Hornets found themselves in hot water after the incident went viral. They issued an apology, explaining the whole thing was a skit meant for laughs. To make amends, they promised to give the boy a PS5 and a special VIP experience at an upcoming game.
Reports from Yahoo Sports suggested the child’s uncle was informed beforehand that the PS5 was not actually going to be theirs, but the kid wasn’t in the loop. As news of the mix-up spread, the Hornets quickly changed their approach. Turner praised the team later, saying, “Credit to Hornets for making it right [and] taking immediate action. Owning mistakes is a great thing and often organizations try to cover their tracks.”
In a side note, it’s worth remembering that until last year, Michael Jordan was the boss man of the Hornets, but he passed the torch to new owners.
