New Movie Features Iconic Sims Plumbobs

-

At Sundance Film Festival, a new movie called Twinless will be shown, and it seems to have The Sims’ famous “plumbob” icons.

In the film, which is part of the “U.S. Dramatic Competition,” two friends come together in a support group for twins who have lost their siblings. Described as a “dark comedy” by Deadline, Twinless features Dylan O’Brian and James Sweeney, with Sweeney also writing and directing. A photo from

shows them wearing plumbobs on their heads, attached with wire. Sweeney, who did the same for Straight Up, returns with his unique style.

For those unfamiliar, in The Sims, a plumbob is a green diamond that shows which Sim the player is controlling. It’s a big symbol for the game, often seen in its logos. In Twinless, we don’t know why plumbobs are used; maybe they’re just quirky costumes or something fun for Halloween.

People sometimes wonder why things like this happen, and it makes us think about how creative stories can be.

GameSpot asked EA for a comment, but they haven’t heard back yet.

Meanwhile, exciting things are happening with The Sims. Margot Robbie and Kate Herron are making a movie, with Amazon MGM and EA confirming it back in September 2024. Although the plot is secret, an EA rep said the “freezer bunny” will appear. Plus, The Sims 5, known as Project Rene, is being developed, but EA assured fans that The Sims 4 will still get updates even after Project Rene comes out.
