New Plague Inc. Sequel Focuses on Healing After Apocalypse

-

Ndemic, the creators of Plague Inc., have unveiled a surprising follow-up game that’s a lot brighter than their original.

After Inc. imagines a world recovering from a zombie apocalypse in the UK, with you steering human society back to life. Unlike its predecessor’s bleakness, this game feels more hopeful and vibrant, showcasing colorful visuals instead of the stark designs seen in Plague Inc. or Rebel Inc., where you battled insurgents. Game designer James Vaughn shared in a chat with Game File that his goal was to create a “more happy and optimistic game this time.” In this game, you become the leader of a community, fighting off zombies, gathering essentials, managing arguments, and exploring new technologies. Each playthrough is about 20 minutes, and as you progress, you’ll earn upgrades that help in future challenges.

We all need a bit of sunshine after the storm, don’t we?

After Inc. is priced at $2, similar to Rebel Inc., but a buck more than Plague Inc., and it’s being sold at a “special sale price” for its debut. Ndemic assures players there won’t be any temporary microtransactions, so everything you buy will remain yours. They also promise updates will keep coming for a long time. You can get it now on Google Play and the App Store, with a PC version planned for release next year.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began, Plague Inc.’s popularity soared, and the developers generously gave $250,000 to support COVID-19 research. They also launched a free expansion called The Cure, which focuses on fighting diseases instead of spreading them.
