Ubisoft is cooking up a fresh Rayman game, and Michel Ancel is jumping in as a consultant on the project.
According to Eurogamer, Ubisoft has confirmed the news after Insider Gaming spilled the beans about a possible remake. “We are pleased to confirm Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan have recently started an exploration phase on the Rayman brand,” shared a Ubisoft spokesperson. They added that Michel Ancel, the mind behind Rayman, is offering guidance to keep the game’s universe intact. More details are promised as the project evolves, though it’s still early days.
In 2020, Ancel found himself in hot water with allegations of a toxic work environment, which he denied before leaving the company. Meanwhile, Ubisoft Montpellier, known for their work on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, is shifting focus to new adventures. Could Rayman be on their list?
We wonder how fans feel about the beloved Rayman making a comeback.
The original Rayman, a side-scroller, made its debut in 1995. If this new game turns out to be a remake, the skills of the Prince of Persia team would definitely come in handy.
Rayman popped up last in the Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope DLC on Nintendo Switch. The main series hasn’t seen a new game since Rayman Legends back in 2013.
