Microsoft might bring out a new Xbox console and a handheld device soon.
A report from Windows Central suggests that Microsoft is considering a dual approach again, similar to the Xbox Series X and S strategy. They’re looking at a traditional console and a portable gaming device, like the Steam Deck.
No one knows exactly how it will look, but if it’s anything like the Steam Deck, gamers could switch between the handheld and console easily using their digital games. It might not have a separate system like the 3DS and Wii U or Vita and PS3. Maybe it’ll be more like the Switch, where both parts work together.
On another note, Microsoft announced they have big plans to celebrate the 25th anniversaries of both Xbox and Halo in 2026. This generation of consoles has been odd. Games are still being made for old systems, and people aren’t happy with the PS5 Pro’s price, making things tricky for new consoles.
We think it’s exciting when companies come up with new ideas.
Last year, some Xbox documents about a mid-generation update were leaked, hinting at an October 2024 release. Even though Microsoft said those plans were old, they are still working on a digital-only Xbox Series X.
