NHL 25 Introduces Women’s Hockey League

-

EA Sports has teamed up with the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) to feature the league in NHL 25 for multiple years.

Starting December 5, NHL 25 will showcase all six PWHL teams: Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montréal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Sceptres.

Gamers can play with these teams in modes like Play Now, Online Versus, Shootout, and Seasons. You can find their uniforms in World of Chel and Hockey Ultimate Team. However, EA mentioned that not all players will look exactly like they do in real life right away; they plan to add more accurate likenesses over time.

The game also introduces the Walter Cup, which is PWHL’s answer to the Stanley Cup.

Women first appeared in NHL games with NHL 22, thanks to a deal with the International Ice Hockey Federation. Sarah Nurse was on the cover of NHL 23 alongside Trevor Zegras.

Other EA sports games have included women, such as EA Sports FC, UFC, and PGA Tour. The PWHL is currently in its second season, with the Minnesota Frost claiming the first Walter Cup.

Adding to the excitement, EA plans a big update for NHL 25 this holiday season. The NHL Arcade event series kicks off on November 15, featuring a fun, three-on-three mode with Big Head mode and power-ups like Supershot and Super Speed. The rink has no glass or rules, giving a nod to the wild days of NHL Hitz.

Fans love when games add fun and unexpected modes like this!

In 2025, NHL 25 will unveil the 4 Nations Face-Off, a round-robin tournament with teams from the USA, Canada, Finland, and Sweden. This will include a special mode and uniforms for each country. The real-world event is set for February 2025, so expect the game’s update around then.

Moreover, EA is enticing players to return to NHL 25 by offering free goodies to anyone who logs in between November 15 and January 2. Players will receive six vanity items for the arcade mode, a special pack for the Road to 4 Nations content, and a PWHL 83 OVR team building choice pack available when the PWHL content launches on December 5.
