Palworld Hits 25 Million Players Milestone in Just One Month

-

Oh, Palworld? Yeah, it’s been buzzing around the market for a hot minute now. Can you believe it’s already roped in a whopping 25 million players? That’s what the folks over at Pocketpair are saying.

So, here’s the breakdown: 15 million of those copies were snagged on Steam. And the Xbox crowd? They account for the other 10 million. Xbox Game Pass subscribers got in on this action, which means not all of those are straight-up purchases. As for the PC Game Pass players, who knows? They’re kinda lumped in with the Xbox gang, it seems.

And then there’s this bit that feels like it’s from another planet. Size: 640 × 360…480 × 270. Huh.

“Please use a html5 video capable browser to watch videos.” I mean, who’s still not on that train, right? And then, “This video has an invalid file format.” Classic. Oh, and my favorite: “Sorry, but you can’t access this content!” They even want your DOB to watch a video. As if clicking ‘enter’ after stating you’re old enough is some sort of magic gatekeeper.

Now, about Palworld launching on January 19. Talk about a rocket start! It zoomed past 2 million concurrent players on Steam. That’s only second to, well, the highest peak ever. But let’s not forget, it’s still a baby in Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview. Translation? It’s kinda like buying a puzzle with a few missing pieces.

“The team will continue to address issues such as bugs and implement new in-game features while working towards the official release,” says Pocketpair. Gotta love the optimism.

Now, for the console fans, I’ve got a bit of a bummer. No Palworld love for Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 5…yet. Pocketpair’s been teasing us with the possibility of a PS5 adventure, but the Switch folks? Still waiting in the wings.

Inspired by Pokemon, Palworld’s made quite the splash. So much so, The Pokemon Company’s got their eyes on it since January. But oh, the drama! Accusations of plagiarism started flying, and things got ugly fast. Death threats, really? The studio’s CEO had to step in, pleading for peace. Let’s dial back the craziness, folks.

So, there you have it. Palworld’s journey so far is a mix of wild success, console heartbreaks, and a dash of controversy. What’s next? Only time will tell.
