Path of Exile 2: Guide to Acquiring Uncut Skill Gems

-

In Path of Exile 2, players gather different skills as they level up, but these skills come from Uncut Skill Gems rather than directly from leveling.

These special gems are like rare treasures because they unlock powerful abilities for combat, yet they’re hard to find in the game world.

Understanding Uncut Skill Gems in Path of Exile 2

Uncut Skill Gems are unique items that have numbers on them indicating their level. This level tells you what kind of skill you can create with it. So, if you find a Level 5 gem, you can make a Level 5 skill for your character.

You can also use these gems to level up an existing skill. For example, if your Sorceress has the Flame Wall skill, a higher-level Uncut Skill Gem can make it stronger.

But remember, the skill you’re upgrading must be at a lower level than the gem. If not, consider creating a new skill instead.

As the game progresses, you’ll find higher-level gems. Initially, you’ll see Level 1 and 2 gems, but by the end of Act 1, Level 5 gems might appear. However, higher-level gems are rarer than lower ones.

Where to Find Uncut Skill Gems in Path of Exile 2

Finding these gems is mostly about luck and defeating enemies. They don’t sell them in early game shops, so you need to rely on drops from enemies.

Higher-tier foes, like bosses, drop these gems more often, especially the higher-level ones. When you’re in a dungeon, defeating the last enemy might give you a surprise gem drop.

Completing quests can also reward you with these gems, though not every quest will. One quest, Trail of Corruption in Act 1, gives a Level 5 gem. These rewards are rare, so don’t count on them too much.

Fans think it’s exciting when a gem drops after a tough battle.

To maximize your gem collection, target side bosses. They have better odds of dropping gems than regular enemies. Story bosses are good too, but side bosses are more plentiful.

Check the world map for a skull icon to find areas with bosses. If you see a colored skull near a Waypoint, a boss is waiting. A gray skull means you’ve already defeated it.

These are the best strategies for gathering Uncut Skill Gems during early access in Path of Exile 2.
