Path of Exile 2 offers numerous ways for characters to gain new powers and enhancements, with Uncut Skill Gems being the most straightforward method to acquire new skills or improve existing ones.
In this game, there are various ways to make your character stronger. Uncut Skill Gems are your go-to for new skills or leveling up old ones. Understanding the Spirit System in Path of Exile 2
Before you chase after Uncut Spirit Gems, it’s good to know their purpose. These gems can be added to different Spirit skills, enhancing your character in unique ways. They work similarly to Skill Gems but aren’t usable at any time.
To use Spirit Gems, you need to gather Spirit first. Here’s how you can do that:
- Equip special items – Wearing items like Sceptres and Solar Amulets can increase your Spirit, either by a percentage or a set amount.
- Beat specific bosses – Some bosses drop a guaranteed Uncut Spirit Gem when you defeat them, like the King of the Mists in Freythorn (Act 1) and Ignagduk, the Bog Witch in The Azak Bog (Act 3).
- Find certain areas – In specific zones, you can discover Uncut Spirit Gems. In early access, the Golden Tomb in The Lost City during Act 2 is one such place.
- Choose particular Ascendancies – In early access, selecting the Infernalist for the Witch or the Invoker for the Monk gives Spirit bonuses.

To see how much Spirit you have, check your skills panel. At the top, next to “Spirit,” you’ll find the amount available for use. Every Spirit Gem needs at least 30 Spirit to work.
If you’ve got enough Spirit and a Spirit Gem is in place, head to the skills panel, select the gem, and increase the Spirit from zero to 30. This turns on the Spirit Gem, letting you enjoy the buff it provides. Spirit Gems give ongoing buffs, making them super handy in battles.
Finding More Uncut Spirit Gems
Sadly, Uncut Spirit Gems are pretty rare in the current version of Path of Exile 2. Players have been asking for a higher drop rate since early access started, but nothing has changed yet.
As expected, bosses and higher-level enemies usually drop these gems. You might also find them in chests or as a quest reward in Act 1 (Ominous Alters). The King of the Mists and Ignagduk, the Bog Witch, always drop an Uncut Spirit Gem. Plus, the Golden Tomb in Act 2 guarantees one every time.
