Path of Exile 2: Regal Orbs Guide

-

Path of Exile 2 is packed with tiny treasures that can seriously amp up your character’s power.

In the game, you start by using Orbs of Transmutation to turn ordinary items into magic ones, but as you progress further, especially in the later stages, Regal Orbs become super important. These orbs help turn your magic items into rare ones, giving your gear a major boost. So, how do you get your hands on these Regal Orbs? Well, the simplest way is to snag them from enemies or chests after a battle. Bosses, especially story ones, have a slightly better chance of dropping them, along with other cool stuff like Uncut Skill Gems and Uncut Spirit Gems, but still, the odds aren’t great. It’s almost like they’re playing hide and seek with us.

There’s another way to get Regal Orbs, which involves collecting 10 Regal Shards. These shards drop more often than the full orbs, but you need ten of them to make a single Regal Orb. Once you’ve got ten shards, they magically transform into a Regal Orb in your inventory. You can find these shards just like you find the orbs—by looting defeated foes and opening treasure chests. However, don’t expect to see a lot of them until Act 3. Even then, during my own journey, I’ve only stumbled upon five shards and a couple of full Regal Orbs, and I’m just in Act 2 on Cruel difficulty.

If fans are lucky enough to collect 10 shards or a full orb, the process to use them is straightforward.

To upgrade your gear, just dive into your inventory, pick the Regal Orb, and find a blue magic item you want to level up. When you apply the orb, the item changes color, turning yellow, which means it’s now a rare item. Rare items are better because they come with more modifiers and higher stats, so it’s smart to upgrade weapons or gear that really suit your style.
