Now that Phasmophobia is available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the developers have been chatting about the future of this ghost-chasing game.
Phasmophobia fans, here’s the scoop: don’t expect any Ghostbusters mash-ups anytime soon. According to marketing manager Asim Tanvir, there are no plans to mix in famous stuff like that. He told VideoGamer that while people are buzzing about it online, the team wants to keep the game true to its spooky vibe. “We don’t want to put–for example–the actual Ghostbusters in the game. It just wouldn’t make sense. That’s not the tonal shift we want from our game, right?” he explained.

Tanvir also hinted that maybe someday, some other cool crossover might happen if they have a change of heart. For now, though, the focus is on bringing fresh content to players. Phasmophobia really blew up in 2020, becoming a favorite during the early days of the pandemic with its scary fun. It still gives everyone goosebumps years later, as the creators shared with GameSpot.
If you’re itching to play a Ghostbusters game, don’t worry. There are other games out there, like Ghostbusters: The Video Game, which got a shiny remaster, and Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, a multiplayer game where you can zap ghosts with your buddies. PlayStation users with PS Plus Extra or Premium can find it in their game library now.
