Phasmophobia Haunts Consoles for Halloween Launch

-

For those gearing up to dive into spooky games this Halloween, there’s a new addition you might want to consider.

During the Xbox Partner Preview, Kinetic Games announced that their co-op ghost-hunting game, Phasmophobia, will be available in early access for consoles on October 29. The game lets four players explore eerie, empty places like houses, campsites, and prisons, where they have to figure out which of the 24 ghost types is haunting the area. But beware, as the ghost might not take kindly to your investigation and could go on a rampage, chasing players down to join it in the afterlife.

Ghost hunters in the game have a variety of tools at their disposal to identify spirits. From cameras that reveal ghostly shapes to books for communicating with the supernatural, all equipment is stored in a truck outside the haunted location. Players will find themselves running back and forth between the safety of the truck and the haunted site to solve the mystery.

Fans love a good scare, don’t we?

Originally released in September 2020 for PC and VR, Phasmophobia quickly captured the attention of indie game enthusiasts. It topped Steam’s best-seller list for October and November 2020, selling nearly 20 million copies as per Kinetic Games, and earned the Best Debut Game award at The Game Awards that year.

The game’s console debut on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PS VR 2 also introduces a Halloween event featuring the first community task. Players can band together to unlock a chilling new weather pattern called Blood Moon, adding another layer of fright to the experience.
