PS5 Price to Increase by $90 in Major Market

-

Sony is increasing the price of PS5 in Japan by 13,000 yen starting September 2, which is about $90.

, Tom Warren from The Verge talked about this price hike, noting it’s the third time Sony has done this since the PS5 came out in late 2020.

Two years ago, Sony also raised the PS5 prices outside the US, including Japan. They said it was because of global inflation and currency issues at that time.

We sometimes feel these price changes are hard to keep up with.

Sony’s first quarter of fiscal year 2024 saw PS5 sales drop by around 27% compared to last year. However, more than 60 million PS5s have been sold so far.

There are rumors that a new PS5 Pro might be coming out this year for $600, possibly reaching up to $700. It could be released in October or November.
