PlayStation 5‘s newest firmware update, 24.06-10.00.00, brought fresh features but also some unexpected problems.
After the update, users have noticed graphical issues in different games, with Square Enix confirming that Final Fantasy 16 is affected. Players on Reddit mentioned that Final Fantasy 16 crashes when loading a save or using fast-travel, and sometimes the screen turns into a bunch of black squares. Square Enix’s official
confirmed they’re working with Sony to figure out what’s going on.
Square Enix said, “Following the recent release of the PlayStation 5 system update, there have been reports of the game crashing and graphical issues. We are currently working with Sony Interactive Entertainment to investigate, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. Please await our further updates.”
On Reddit, other PS5 users are also talking about graphical bugs in games like Death Stranding and Star Wars Outlaws. It’s still not clear if these issues are all due to the update. Sony hasn’t said anything official about this yet.
The latest PS5 update, which came out on September 12, introduced Party Share and the Welcome Hub. The Welcome Hub is a personalized tab on the home screen with widgets and backgrounds you can customize, and Party Share lets you invite friends to join a PS Party Voice Chat session using a scannable QR code.
Fans are really hoping these issues get fixed soon.
While PS5 users deal with these bugs, Final Fantasy 16 has also been released on PC. The game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, asked PC players to avoid making or using mods that might be offensive or inappropriate.
