Rainbow Six Siege Introduces Full Cross-Play After Years

-

Rainbow Six Siege is finally getting cross-play between PC and consoles this December, almost ten years after it came out.

From December 3, console gamers can jump into matches with their PC friends, but PC players won’t have the same freedom to join console lobbies. If you team up with a PC gamer, your group will automatically be placed in the PC lobby. Console folks playing ranked games with cross-play will have a separate rank for PC matches.

Bringing cross-play to such an old game means they also have to think about cheaters. Ubisoft is updating its anticheat system to make sure games are fair. If someone gets a Mousetrap Penalty because they’re using a mouse and keyboard on a console, they’ll have to play in the PC pool for three months.

If these players turn off cross-play, they can’t join any matches until they turn it back on. Plus, if there’s a cheater in a game, it will be canceled right away, and no one’s rank will change. Ubisoft is also improving how it tracks player behavior, so you’ll know what actions can get you in trouble. They’re working on a new hub that will show your reputation, rank, and match history soon.

The latest update, Year 9 Season 4, brings a new character named Blackbeard with a special shield, changes to some gadgets, and other tweaks. You can check out all the details in the official season announcement post.
