Ubisoft has unveiled a fresh gaming experience titled Captain Laserhawk: The Game, a multiplayer shooter seen from above that incorporates NFTs and blockchain.
The game draws inspiration from the Netflix series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, which itself is a spin-off of Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, as noted by Game File’s Stephen Totilo. Interestingly, Rayman makes an appearance, not as a character you can control, but as the voice that guides players through deathmatches.
To dive into the game, you need a Niji Warrior NFT. Want to add some Rayman flair? You can buy a Rayman profile image for 750 virtual coins to pair with your NFT. That’s about as far as Rayman’s role goes in this venture. Ubisoft has been pretty low-key about this launch, with scarce mentions on social media, aside from some Medium posts.
There was a time when NFTs were all the rage, championed by big names like Electronic Arts, Take-Two, and Square Enix. But now, it seems like everyone’s moved on to the next big thing: AI.
Fans often wonder if these tech shifts really make games better or just more complicated.
Ubisoft’s Quartz, their NFT platform, didn’t exactly get a warm welcome when announced. They also tried out NFTs with Ghost Recon Breakpoint but stopped supporting it in 2022.
