Reasons a Dragon Age Trilogy Compilation Might Not Happen

-

BioWare has already bundled its Mass Effect games, but can we expect the same for Dragon Age?

According to John Epler, BioWare’s creative director, creating a Dragon Age collection isn’t simple due to the different engines used in the series. The first two installments were crafted with Eclipse, while Dragon Age: Inquisition switched to Frostbite. Epler mentioned in a chat with Rolling Stone that only a small group, about 20 people at BioWare, are familiar with Eclipse, making this task quite the challenge. In contrast, the Mass Effect games all utilized Unreal Engine, simplifying their compilation into the Legendary Edition.

“It’s something that’s not going to be as easy as Mass Effect, but we do love the original games. Never say never; I guess that’s what it comes down to,” said Epler.

Fans always hope for more of their favorite games.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard hit the scene on October 31, and it’s doing pretty well on Steam, though BioWare and EA have kept sales numbers under wraps. EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson, shared in an earnings call that the team feels pumped about their creation, hinting at its potential to be a hit. Meanwhile, GameSpot gave the game a 7/10 in their ongoing review, suggesting players check out their guides hub if they’re diving into the game.
