Fortnite Crew is making big waves with its latest update, and not everyone is thrilled about it.
At the start of Chapter 6, players jumped into Fortnite’s fresh map, eager to test out new weapons and items. However, after a day of gaming, many noticed they weren’t leveling up as fast as they used to. In past seasons, dedicated players could hit 20 or 30 levels in one day, but now it’s tough to even reach double digits.
The way players earn XP has changed a lot. Milestones that lasted all season are gone. Now, there’s just one set of three daily quests for every game mode, instead of separate ones. Plus, in modes like Lego, Reload, OG, Festival, Save the World, and Creative, XP is tied to how long you play, with a limit each week. Once you reach that limit, your XP gains slow down a lot.
, Lego, Reload, and OG modes share a single weekly XP pool that maxes out at 21 levels. Creative modes allow for about 11 levels weekly, while Save the World lets you gain up to nine levels, and Festival restricts you to just over one level per day. These limits only affect XP from playing, so quests can still help boost your progress.
In battle royale and Zero Build, passive XP has been removed completely. This means once you finish the weekly and kickstart quests, leveling up gets much harder.
People sometimes feel like changes are unfair, especially if it means losing something they enjoyed.
The tweaks seem linked to the revamped Fortnite Crew. Now, Crew subscribers get access to the Lego Pass, Music Pass, and monthly OG Passes, but you only earn rewards while subscribed. Unlike before, buying Crew doesn’t grant the battle pass for the whole season. Since the subscription cost remains the same, Epic Games appears to be balancing things by controlling XP gains weekly, ensuring a steady progression.
Not shockingly, these updates stirred up some chatter on social media and reddit. People are waiting to see how everyone feels about this in a few weeks. Epic Games tried something similar when Chapter 4 came out, with weekly quests that disappeared instead of lasting all season. It took nearly two months for them to change it back, despite fans’ reactions. However, Epic can quickly fix this without a big update, so things might change suddenly.
