EA has announced that Respawn Entertainment will complete Cal Kestis’ tale.
EA shared this news during their Investor Day 2024 presentation, revealing that the creators of Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor are working on the third game in the series. With both previous games under their belt, Respawn is an obvious choice to wrap up the trilogy.
“We have delivered some of the highest quality and best-selling Star Wars games of all-time, with over $5 billion in net bookings,” said EA’s Laura Miele. “This impressive track record includes of course the Star Wars ‘Jedi’ games, where over 40 million Star Wars fans have connected with Cal Kestis and his arc of becoming a powerful Jedi. Respawn is working hard to bring the final chapter of this thrilling story to players.”
Since Jedi: Survivor came out four years after Jedi: Fallen Order, fans might need to be patient for the final game. EA didn’t give any hints about the release date, and the fact that Stig Asmussen, who directed the first two games, left Respawn in September 2023, might affect the timeline.
Asmussen had shared his hope to make Cal’s story a trilogy before he left Respawn to work on a new project. “I always wanted to see this as a trilogy,” he told IGN.
Fans believe in the talent of Respawn’s team even without Asmussen.
“Veteran Respawn leaders will be stepping up to guide the team as they continue their work on Star Wars: Jedi Survivor,” EA told Bloomberg after announcing Asmussen’s departure.
Andrew Wilson, EA’s CEO, added, “You should imagine that there’s some other things going on at Respawn that we’re very excited about, that we’re not going to talk about, but that we’re very excited about just given the quality of that group.”
It seems like the same experienced Respawn team is now leading the development of the trilogy’s final installment.
On September 17, the same day as the investor presentation, EA released Jedi: Survivor for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, allowing last-gen console players to enjoy the adventure.
