In 2018, players got to know Atreus, Kratos’ son, in God of War, and many liked the bond they formed, even if Atreus talked a lot.
Fast forward to the sequel in 2022, God of War Ragnarok, where Atreus and his buddies continued their chatty ways, often interrupting the game’s puzzles. However, there’s now a fresh mod for the PC version that keeps Atreus and others from spoiling the fun with their endless hints. According to IGN, a modder named Mophead01 on NexusMods created the “Please Shut Up” mod. This goes beyond what Sony did before, which was to just lower how often hints were given. Mophead01 thought that wasn’t enough since Atreus would still tell players how to do simple stuff. So, this mod wipes out more than 1,500 lines of dialogue that aren’t needed.
“Tired of companions telling you things you already know? Tired of the game treating you like a child if you don’t instantly solve every puzzle? This mod removes over 1,500 pointless, [patronizing] voice lines from the game,” said Mophead01.
We just want our games to be fun without too much talking.
Sadly, if you’re on PlayStation 5 or 4, you can’t use this mod yet. Sony hasn’t sent out an update for these consoles that lets you reduce hints like on PC. So right now, only people playing on PC can enjoy a quieter experience with Atreus.
