Silent Hill 2 Remake: Disable UI, Add ’90s Filter

-

Silent Hill 2’s remake by Bloober Team is set to launch in October with some unique extras.

Recently, they shared on social media about two new features: a no-UI mode and a ’90s filter. This filter adds heavy film grain, changes colors, and introduces other visual effects. These features, when combined, give the game a look very similar to the original Silent Hill 2. Back in the day, the game was known for its thick fog and film grain, and it didn’t have any UI elements like health bars.

However, some people quickly noted that calling it a ’90s filter is a bit odd since Silent Hill 2 actually came out in 2001.

Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 has stirred mixed feelings among horror fans. Some are worried about how the project is shaping up. But Jessica Cogswell from GameSpot got to play the game for three hours and shared her thoughts. She said, “In short, I was incredibly impressed by the time I spent with Silent Hill 2 Remake. It is surreal, cerebral, horrifying, and grotesque–all of the things that made the original title such a remarkable title not only for Konami, but for the horror genre as well.”

Fans will decide for themselves when the game releases on October 8. In the meantime, PC players can try the definitive version of the original, Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition, which recently received its final update.
