The Silent Hill 2 remake is out, and while critics like it, not all fans do.
Over the weekend, a lot of people messed with the Wikipedia page for the game, changing review scores to make them look bad. Eurogamer noticed this, and now the page is locked. The Silent Hill subreddit also saw it happening. Some folks even changed a Metacritic score from 87/100 to a really low 27/100, and GameSpot’s 9/10 review was altered to 2/10.
People sometimes get really upset when things change, even if it’s just a game.
Wikipedia has fixed the scores now, but editing is restricted. A message tells people that the page is semi-protected to stop trolls, and it’ll stay locked until October 9. The changes in the log were about “accuracy” and stopping “trolling.” Some people have been unhappy with what they call a “woke” take on character designs, like Angela and Maria’s.
On
(once known as Twitter), the original game’s director, Masashi Tsuboyama, shared his thoughts. He believes the remake lets a new group of players enjoy the game. “As a creator, I’m very happy about it,” he said. “It’s been 23 years! Even if you don’t know the original, you can just enjoy the remake as it is. Whether it’s good or bad doesn’t affect the original.”
