Silent Hill 2 is about a broken guy, and now a patch seems to have messed up the game.
Patch 1.04 aimed to boost how Silent Hill 2 runs on the Steam Deck, stop crashes on the PS5, and fix some other small glitches. But players on Steam and the Silent Hill subreddit say that it brought a big bug in the Labyrinth level that breaks the game.
Under Toluca Prison, the Labyrinth is a confusing maze of hallways. As players explore, they meet people like Eddie and Angela, and have to fight bosses. It also has some puzzles to crack, but these are where things go wrong. Normally, you solve a puzzle by turning a cube, and it falls apart, letting you move on. But since the new patch, the cube isn’t breaking for some folks, leaving them stuck.
The good news is, Konami and Bloober Team know about this mess, and they’ve put an in-game message saying a fix is coming soon.
“We are aware of an issue some players may encounter after the most recent 1.04 patch released on October the 21st in the Labyrinth level of Silent Hill 2,” the announcement reads. “The fix will be released as soon as possible. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience.”
Sometimes, fans just want things to work right. If you can’t wait for the official fix, a post on Steam offers ideas like reloading the game or lowering the frame rate to try and help. No promises they’ll work, but for now, they’re all we’ve got to get past Silent Hill’s spooky paths and creepy fog.
