Sony’s Concord Game Offline After a Week

-

In a surprising move, Sony has pulled Concord from sale after only a week.

Sales were dismal, with just 25,000 copies sold and hardly any players online. Game director Ryan Ellis mentioned that while some parts of the game clicked with the audience, other areas and the launch itself missed the mark.

They’ve taken Concord off the market, and the servers will shut down on September 6. Ellis hinted they might bring the game back in a new way, saying the team is looking at how to “better reach our players.”

Those who bought Concord will get their money back. If you bought it on PS5, the refund will go directly to your payment method. Steam and Epic Games Store buyers will also get refunds, and they should watch for emails from those platforms.

If you bought a physical copy, go back to the store where you made the purchase for a refund.

Fans find this turn of events quite shocking. Nobody really thought Sony would pull the plug on Concord this fast, even with the low sales and player numbers.

We wonder if this means Sony and Firewalk are planning to bring Concord back in a new form. Maybe it will come back as a free-to-play game, which many thought it should have been from the start.

Before this big news, Firewalk was planning to release Concord Season 1: The Tempest in October. They had new characters, maps, variants, cosmetics, and rewards lined up. Season 2 was set for January and Season 3 for April, but these plans will likely change now.

Keep checking back with GameSpot for more on Concord.
