In March, the PC version of Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update arrived, but those playing on consoles and mobile had to wait longer for the major free update.
Now, after pausing work on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has made the 1.6.9 update available for everyone. This update brings a whole bunch of cool stuff like putting legendary fish in ponds and new ways to save lost items. Plus, there are tweaks, fixes, and fresh game elements.
Here’s what the new update adds: If you’ve lost something forever, a new character in the Secret Woods can help you get it back—if you’re willing to pay. You can now place legendary fish in ponds, though only one per pond, and they make the water change colors! Beds can be placed in any building that allows furniture, and items dropped in water will float briefly, so grab them quickly! There are also new Easter eggs and secret cheat commands.
Sometimes, fans just want more surprises in their favorite games.
In September, Barone shared the update’s release date on the Stardew Valley forums. The 1.6.9 update has more content than the earlier 1.6 version, like better pine trees, fruit trees unaffected by weeds, and new shop items. Sadly, European PlayStation users are having trouble with the update, and there’s a bug causing chickens to vanish for new players on the Meadowlands farm. Barone is aware and working on fixes.
