Early in the Starfield Shattered Space DLC, you can start a side quest called The Duel.
This quest kicks off when you eavesdrop on a fiery argument among three people in Dazra’s main courtyard, the sacred city on Va’ruun’kai. You soon realize they are siblings—two brothers and a sister. Once you chat with them, the reason for their dispute becomes clear. One brother, Amila, has desecrated their mother’s urn, prompting the other brother, Borhal, to challenge him to a duel. The sister, Danika, wants your help to decide their fate.
Can you stop the duel from happening in Starfield?
Stopping the duel seems impossible. Your first task in The Duel is to meet with Danika and then speak to both brothers. Despite your best efforts, neither brother will back down. Borhal craves revenge for the urn incident, claiming Amila had it coming. Meanwhile, Amila’s pride prevents him from apologizing, insisting on the duel. Even if you plead with them, both are set on fighting to the death.
After speaking with the brothers and exhausting all dialogue options, it’s clear they won’t change their minds. Borhal wants retribution for their mother’s urn and believes Amila deserves punishment. Amila, too proud to say sorry, insists the duel must happen. Even though you try to convince them otherwise, both brothers remain firm in their decision to fight.
All outcomes of The Duel in Starfield
Once the brothers have agreed to duel, return to Danika to inform her. Upset, she devises a plan involving tranquilizing the brothers to prevent the duel. She entrusts you with this task, and you head to a new quest marker where you find the ceremonial drinks for the duel.
When you reach the drinks, you have four choices: Tranquilize Amila, Tranquilize Borhal, Tranquilize Both, or Tranquilize Nobody. Here’s what happens based on your choice:
- Tranquilize Amila: Borhal thinks Amila is faking it and kills him anyway. (Rewards: 5,000 Credits and XP)
- Tranquilize Borhal: Amila doesn’t care if Borhal is sick and kills him. (Rewards: 5,000 Credits and XP)
- Tranquilize Both: Both brothers are too ill to fight, and Danika hopes they’ll come to their senses with time. (Rewards: 4,000 Credits and XP)
- Tranquilize Nobody: Both brothers drink, and Borhal kills Amila. Danika blames you for her brother’s death. (Rewards: 5,000 Credits and XP)
