Starfield has finally received its major expansion, Shattered Space, after a year of minor updates.
Requirements for Shattered Space in Starfield
First, you need to purchase the Shattered Space DLC, which costs $29.99 and is available on Steam or the Xbox Store. Even Xbox Game Pass users need to buy it, though they get a discount at the link below.
If you own the Premium or Constellation Editions of Starfield, good news! The DLC is already yours. Just update Starfield on Sept. 30 to access it.
After acquiring Shattered Space, you have to complete Starfield’s first mission, One Small Step, which takes you to Jemison on New Atlantis in the Alpha Centauri system. Joining Constellation is not required for this mission.
However, it’s recommended that your character is at least level 35 to tackle the challenges in Shattered Space. Starting at a lower level can make enemies and missions quite difficult.
Starting Shattered Space in Starfield
If you’ve already completed One Small Step, follow these steps to begin the DLC:
- Head to a star system with no active missions. Ensure no bounties or contraband are on your ship before starting Shattered Space.
- Travel to a system rather than a specific planet.
- Upon arrival, you’ll receive a distress call from someone aboard The Oracle.
- This triggers a new mission called What Remains in your quest log.
- Activate the mission and board The Oracle space station, which appears in the system you traveled to.
- The Oracle is a large station with tall beams around it.
- Press the “Interact” button while in your ship to dock at The Oracle.
Fans are very excited about the new expansion.
