Take-Two Boss Confident About GTA 6 on Xbox Series S

-

Grand Theft Auto VI is being made for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and people are curious about how it’ll run on the less powerful Series S.

During a recent chat about Take-Two’s earnings, Strauss Zelnick was asked about this. GTA VI is expected to be super impressive, so some folks are worried it might not work well on Series S.

Zelnick said, “Look, we support the platforms where the consumers are for as long as they’re there, and we find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech. Our labels are really good at that. I’m not really worried.”

He also mentioned, “If one platform diminishes in value, there’s always another one. So we’re seeing great growth in PC right now, for example.”

People often wonder how game companies decide which systems to support.

Zelnick added that computers are becoming a bigger deal for Take-Two, hinting that GTA VI might come to PC, though nothing is official yet.

“The bottom line is we are selective about which platforms we support. We make the tech work when we can make it work as long as the audience is big enough to make that worthwhile,” he said.

Somebody who used to work at Rockstar mentioned that if GTA VI comes to PC, it probably won’t be released at the same time as the console versions. This happened with GTA V too; it took almost two years to get to PC after its console debut.

Red Dead Redemption II also saw a delay before its PC release, and the first Red Dead took over a decade to reach PC players.

There’s been a lot of talk about how Series S might struggle compared to Series X, with developers concerned about its power. Baldur’s Gate 3 faced delays because of these issues.

The team behind Stalker 2 thought it was “impossible” to bring their game to Series S due to its limitations.

Initially, Series S sold more than Series X in the US because of supply problems during the pandemic, but Series X is now leading in sales, making up 51% of all Series sales according to recent reports. Microsoft thinks Series S will eventually do better because it’s cheaper.

GTA VI is aiming for a Fall 2025 release, and Take-Two has confirmed this timeline again in their latest financial update.
