The Last of Us Part 2 Shines on PS5 Pro

-

When the PS5 Pro hits the shelves this November, numerous games, including The Last of Us Part 2, are set to gain from its enhanced capabilities.

Digital Foundry has showcased how The Last of Us Part 2 looks on the PS5 Pro, and it appears stunning. This game was already a visual feast on the base PS5, having improved significantly from its PS4 version. Now, with the PS5 Pro’s power and Sony’s fancy PSSR upscaling, it’s even better. The game is rendered internally at 1440p and then boosted to 4K at 60 frames per second, resulting in crisper visuals and smoother gameplay than on the regular PS5.

What stands out are the lifelike hair movements, richer environment textures, and a more profound depth of field. Although watching this on YouTube doesn’t do it full justice, seeing it firsthand on a good gaming screen makes the upgrades evident.

“Overall, I’d say the PS5 Pro’s rendition of The Last of Us Part 2 seems successful, even in this pre-release state. It delivers a credible-looking 4K image with excellent detail and pretty good image stability, at a virtually flawless 60fps update,” mentioned Oliver Mackenzie from Digital Foundry.

Some minor glitches are still present, but only those with a keen eye will probably notice them. Interestingly, this updated version retains the old PS5 modes and adds an option to unlock the frame rate on VRR screens.

Fans often wonder if upgrading is worth it. When the PS5 Pro launches, games like Gran Turismo 7, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Diablo 4 will also receive enhancements. If you already own a PS5, deciding whether to switch might be tough, but GameSpot has some insights after trying out the PS5 Pro.
