Top NFL Receiver Avoids Madden Curse Cover

-

Ja’Marr Chase from the Cincinnati Bengals made it clear he doesn’t want to be on the cover of the next Madden NFL game.

, Mike Petraglia shared a video where Chase, while chatting about video games, firmly said he doesn’t want to be a cover star for Madden. When asked, he simply knocked on wood and said, “No, I don’t want that.” The wide receiver has had an amazing season with lots of catches, yards, and touchdowns.

Chase didn’t say much about the Madden curse when asked directly, but he mentioned he’d be okay with being on a new NFL Street game cover. CBS Sports showed that in the last 24 years, 58% of Madden cover athletes had bad luck, like getting hurt or playing worse. But lately, only 25% have had such troubles.

Christian McCaffrey, who was on the Madden NFL 25 cover, got injured this season. He’s been in just four games and might not play again this year. Injuries aren’t new for him, though, since he’s missed many games in previous seasons.

Fans sometimes wonder if the curse is real or just a coincidence.

Back in 2020, GameSpot checked out this so-called curse when Patrick Mahomes was ready for the Super Bowl. He was on the Madden NFL 20 cover and went on to win the big game, making people question the curse’s power.
