Unlock Astro Bot Secret Photo Mode

Astro Bot is a beautiful game, but it hides its photo mode as a secret feature.

As you journey through the many levels of Astro Bot, you will come across hidden puzzle pieces. Each level has three pieces, and the Crash Site hub world has 11 more scattered around. Additionally, you might spot even more floating in the space map overworld. To unlock Astro Bot’s photo mode, you need to collect a significant number of these pieces, which you will likely achieve halfway through the game if you diligently search for them.

Collecting puzzle pieces unlocks various attractions and shops in the Crash Site. The first is the gacha machine, a crane game that exchanges your coins for collectibles, costumes, and ship paint jobs.

Other attractions unlocked by puzzle pieces include the Dual Speeder Garage, where you can repaint your DualSense spaceship, the Changing Room, where you can dress up Astro like other characters such as Sly Cooper and Gravity Rush’s Kat, and finally, the Safari Park. The photo mode is unlocked in the Safari Park, but you must unlock the other three attractions first.

So, you need to keep collecting puzzle pieces to build the Safari Park, which becomes easier with our Astro Bot secrets and collectibles guide.

Upon entering the Safari Park, the game will teach you how to use the photo mode: Press up on the D-pad. You can change the picture’s framing using the shoulder buttons and motion controls, alter Astro’s face with the emote button, and auto-focus the image by lightly pressing R2 before taking the picture by fully pressing the same button.

Fans love how the controls disappear from the screen when you take a picture. After snapping a photo, check your PS5 image gallery to see the final image without the UI.

Photo mode isn’t just limited to the Safari Park. You can activate it anytime by pressing up on the D-pad. Some Trophies even require you to use photo mode in different game areas.
