When you begin your journey in Path of Exile 2, you’ll start with a Lesser Life Flask and a Lesser Mana Flask.
As you progress, the game becomes more challenging, and you’ll need stronger flasks to keep up with the tougher battles. Luckily, upgrading these flasks is straightforward, making it easier to heal and restore mana quicker. To get better flasks, there are a couple of methods to consider, both involving replacing your current ones. While battling foes, sometimes they drop new flasks that might be better or worse than what you have. For instance, a new mana flask could restore more mana but might need refilling more often.
You can tell if a flask is superior by its name; for example, a “Grand Life Flask” usually surpasses a “Greater Life Flask.” But don’t just go by the name—consider its rarity and any extra features it might have. Some flasks come with special abilities that can boost recovery speed or alter how many times they can be used. Enhancing flasks with Orbs of Augmentation can add new powers to magic flasks, but if yours isn’t magical yet, you might need an Orb of Transmutation first.
Sadly, finding new flasks isn’t as easy as it sounds. Some towns have shops where you can buy them, like from Renly, Luna, or Finn in Clearfell during Act 1. But, let’s be honest, these vendors often charge too much. Killing enemies might actually yield better flasks without spending a dime. When you loot flasks, they’re often “unidentified,” so you’ll need a Scroll of Wisdom to reveal their stats. These scrolls can be found or purchased, and a character named The Hooded One can identify items for free later on.
Once you have an identified flask, swap it in your inventory. Pay attention to how many charges it holds and how much health or mana it restores. A flask with more charges allows more uses before needing a refill. For example, a flask with 75 charges using 10 per sip means you can use it seven times. Some might use fewer charges, offering more uses but less restoration each time. Decide if you want more uses or more powerful healing.
Modifiers also influence which flask to use. You can add more modifiers randomly with Orbs of Augmentation, but sometimes it’s best to stick with flasks that already have good features. As you play, you’ll get a feel for which flasks suit your style. Keep an eye out for rare flasks while progressing through the early Acts and beyond.
