Xbox Update Restores Friend Requests & Enhances Console Search

-

The Xbox update has brought back friend requests, tweaked search, and added new ways to personalize profiles and home screens.

When you want to be friends with someone on Xbox now, they have to accept your invite, just like you have to accept theirs. You can still follow people if you want to see what they’re up to, but it’s a one-way street where they decide what to share. Don’t worry about your current friend list changing though, it will update by itself to match the new rules.

If managing your pals is your thing, press the Xbox button, choose the People tab, and you can check out your friends list, accept or delete requests, or hunt for new buddies. They’ve also made privacy and notifications about friendships clearer.

Microsoft claims their improved search tool is smarter now, understanding typos, shortcuts, or even emojis. This upgrade is available on both the console and Windows Xbox app.

Fans sometimes think these updates are pretty cool, even if they seem small.

On your console, you can get creative with your profile picture using game achievements or screenshots, plus you can zoom and crop to make your home screen just right. The Windows Xbox app has a new look too, making it easier to jump back into games, even in a smaller view. Also, the Xbox Accessories app lets you tweak your Elite controllers for the perfect setup.

Speaking of Xbox news, there’s a buzz about a new ad campaign showing off what they offer on mobile and smart TVs. And whispers about a handheld device, though it might take a few years before it appears.
