Rumors recently swirled about Ubisoft possibly shutting down their game, XDefiant, but Mark Rubin, the game’s executive producer, has dismissed these claims.
A well-known leaker, Shaun Weber, stirred things up by tweeting that XDefiant was "already dead." He mentioned Ubisoft’s team is seeking more feedback from testers, hinting that if player numbers remain low, support might end after Season 4. But Mark Rubin was quick to counter these whispers. He tweeted, "To be crystal clear there are NO plans to shut down after Season 4. I’ve literally been in meetings as of last week to discuss our Year 2 plans."
Rubin emphasized that the team is hard at work on technical improvements, including the game’s netcode, and is also busy crafting new content for the upcoming seasons. Though player numbers have dipped, he explained this was partly due to limited marketing. This pause in promotions was deliberate, giving developers time to refine the game before launching bigger marketing efforts aimed at attracting new players and enticing old ones back.
Fans hope the game will thrive with these updates.
Despite any hurdles, the developers are committed to enhancing XDefiant. The latest patch, released on October 8, brought changes to Faction types, quicker progression in Ranked Play, and other updates. If you want to see what’s planned for XDefiant’s first year, check out the full roadmap here.
